Johnson Family Home | New Orleans, LA This past week I got the chance to hang out at Pictage PartnerCon in New Orleans, LA.  It was a great conference!  One of the best parts was being able to photograph a friend’s family who lives down there.  They moved down right after the hurricane to do relief and eventually to be part of a new church there.

Needless to say, this family is an inspiration to us all as they gave up their homes to move to a place that desperately needed help!  I was so proud to be a part of their family for a few hours.  These are a couple of my favorites from the session:

Waveland Museum | Lexington, Kentucky  It was a great morning for a family photography session in Lexington, Kentucky.  Robin, Rob and the kids were relaxed and ready for a fun day to be a family.  The kids were so funny as they really got into posing for the camera.  They came up with some funny poses all on their own:)

What a great family!  Here are some of my favorites from the family portrait session:

Devou Park | Covington, Kentucky As a family photographer I am so blessed to meet great families that I would have never had the chance to meet otherwise, as is the case with Matt, Anna and Miles.  A few days ago we met at the overlook behind Drees Pavilion in Devou Park and had a family portrait session.  The weather was amazing…around 70 for most of the morning and some well placed clouds in the sky.

I knew we were going to have fun when Miles jumped out of the car and grabbed my hand to lead me around the park.  He is such a cute kid who is very fun to be around.  Matt and Anna were so great to get to know as well.  Matt is a journalism professor at NKU (please don’t be too harsh about my writing Matt) and Anna is a stay at home mom.  Both of them were so genuine and easy to talk to.  It was very cool to talk to them about their upcoming adoption and be a part of the process in taking their family picture to include with their paperwork.  All in all it was a really engaging and fun day.

Matt and Anna: you guys are great parents with an amazing son who’s funny and super fun to be around!  Thanks for sharing a little of your lives with me.  Good luck with the adoption and I can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures from your family photography session.

Our evening family photography session took us to The Leming House in Milford, Ohio.  The great thing about this session is I’ve had the opportunity to photograph this family 2 times previous.  I love when I get to take pictures of a family multiple times!  When you get to build a long term realtionship with a family through pictures a couple of things happen: 1. Each time I take their picture they (especially the kids) are a little less weirded-out by the camera, 2.  They already know they can count on me to get them some great shots and I know what shots they liked last time and 3. I get to see those babies grow up on and off camera!  That last one is really important for me because I love interacting with and getting to know each family I work with during my family photography sessions.

Anyways, back to the reason for the post.  We were in Milford taking family pictures and the weather was perfect.  The kids (as you can see) were so cute.  Jerynn (the tiniest one) was born a day before my daughter Lily in the same hospital so I actually got to hang out a little with them while we shared a floor:)  It was great to reconnect and get some pictures of the whole family for the first time since Jerynn was born.

Enjoy!

A great moment during the family portrait session when Jerynn saw Jaya and started cracking up.

**Side note: If you have a minute go to Capture Cincinnati ’09 and vote for Jaya’s picture (from the first session I did with her) to make it into a regionally published photography book!**

I always love capturing the things that happen when families just act like families at a photography session. Check out Jaya peeking over Myndee's leg. Too cute!

Anytime you get a chance to have a great family picture session with a great family its so fun.  Then I have to remind myself that it’s actually my job…even better.

Myndee, Josh, Jaya and Jerynn: Thanks for the chance to help create amazing family pictures with you guys!  I will have the rest of your pictures back to you in the next few days.

If you live in the area you know that Sunday morning was one of the most beautiful weather days we have had in a while.  The Hughes Family was so fun to photograph.  My favorite types of family shoots are those where the family just goes out and plays together and I get to hang back and get some “in the moment” shots.  This was one of those kinds of shoots.  You could tell they really enjoyed each other’s company and this was just another day out:)  You guys were so fun to observe and interact with.  The rest of the pictures are coming soon!  Enjoy.
