Ault Park | Cincinnati, OH I’ve known Lauren for a while and it is hard to imagine she is old enough to be a senior in high school.  Although when you look at her pictures you might think it’s hard to imagine she is young enough to be a senior in high school:)  Needless to say, she is a beautiful girl in pictures…but the best thing about her is that she is an even more beautiful person!  She is the most outgoing, likeable girl and I know she is going to do amazing things with her life.

It was nearly impossible to select her final images and even more impossible to select only a few to show you, but here are some of my favorites:

Clifton | Cincinnati, OH Sometimes as a photographer I get the opportunity to spend time with people who I would normally (probably) never come in contact with on a regular day.  It’s one of the perks of the job.  A couple weeks ago I had the chance to spend a few minutes taking portraits of 8 students and an adult for Cincinnati Youth Collaborative.  You can read more about what CYC does on their website but, in a nutshell, they are a non-profit organization in the city working to help students through mentoring and college readiness programs.  They do it by connecting volunteers (like you!) to students and teaching the adults how to help the students succeed.  An amazing mission for sure!

The students you see here were nominated for an annual award based on their academic and social achievements through their schools and the CYC program.  Each of these students has a story.  I only got to spend a few minutes with each but they were fun to be around and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet each one of them.  We could all learn a ton from these young adults as they demonstrate what it means to overcome challenges and push forward no matter the circumstances.  I am in awe of them.

I am also in awe of CYC’s staff.  They are beautiful people with a huge heart to see kids succeed in life, even when they might not have been given a decent chance to.  When I grow up, I want to be like these students and those staff members:)

If you are looking for a worthwhile place to donate your time or money shoot CYC an email.  You won’t regret it.  If you don’t have the time or money, shoot them an email anyways and tell them how much you appreciate the work their are doing to help our city.

Thanks CYCers and thanks to all those volunteers working hard to make a difference in the lives of students like these!

Keeneland Race Track | Lexington, Kentucky It’s always fun to do a senior portrait session!  It’s a right of passage for most students.  You pull out 2 or 3 outfits that you like and go spend an hour or so getting pictures taken that mom will cherish forever and ever.  This past weekend I got to take senior pictures with my cousin Andrew.  I can’t believe he is already a senior in high school…it definitely makes me not want to think about how old I am:)  He was funny because he totally knew he was there for his mom.  One of the first things he said was “I’ll probably smile in most of these because that’s what she’ll want”.  Sure enough, when I showed her a couple shots she immediately said “oohh, I like that one”…he was smiling.

Here are some of my favorites from his senior photography session:

It was so fun Monday to get out in Mt. Adams and take Amanda’s senior pictures.  Her and her mom were such sweet people and a lot of fun to spend a morning with!  As you can see, the light was amazing and Amanda is an incredibly fun and beautiful girl.  She made my job super easy!  Thanks for letting me be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunity guys.  The rest will be ready soon enough.  Enjoy!
